THE VISIT OF THE EXECUTIVE COMMITEE OF THE INTERNATIONAL CARTOGRAPHIC ASSOCIATION (ICA) TO ICC 2009 LOC AT THE IGM

The Executive Committee of the International Cartographic Association has made a working visit related to the 24th International Cartographic Conference (ICC2009) to be held in Santiago, Chile, in November 2009 and intended to gather major scientific figures involved with the geosciences.

During this visit the main activities performed by the Local Organizing Committee for ICC 2009, the current status and the general outlines and policies for preparations and implementation were all reported, discussed and enhanced. The conference venue at the Military School was toured. In this context, the leadership of the International Cartographic Association appreciated the professionalism and serious approach and the commitment of the LOC in hosting this event.

The visit coincided with the handover of the Presidency of the Local Organizing Committee of this conference from the current Director of the IGM, Colonel Rodrigo Barriga V. to Colonel Juan Vidal G.-H., who will soon take over as the new Director of the IGM.
