VISIT OF THE SCIENTIFIC SUB COMMITTEE ICC 2009
AT THE UNIVERSITY OF TALCA

Members of the Scientific Sub Committee of the 24th International Cartographic Conference (ICC 2009), traveled to Talca to hold a meeting at the Geomatics Center of the University of that city incentral Chile, where they were greeted by Dr. Carlos Mena F., Director of the Center.

After a visit to the laboratories that make up the Geomatics Center and listening to a comprehensive presentation about it, the Committee publicized the mission and purpose of  the International Cartographic Association (ICA) in the world, which includes the responsibility of managing every two years, the organisation of the ICC conferences.

Subsequently, the Sub Committee on Scientific made a presentation indicating its responsibilities to the Local Organizing Committee (LOC), which has its headquarters at the Military Geographic Institute (IGM) and also made known the necessary actions underway to finalize the support and collaboration of various universities, public and private institutions related to the event.

The Director and academics of the Geomatics Center of the University of Talca, also the Director of the Surveying Department of the Los Angeles campus of the University of Concepcion.

The directors and academics, together with their universities, undertook to provide maximum support for the 2009 ICC and to cooperate in promoting the conference in the south of Chile.
