Santiago

General Information

Santiago
The capital of Chile, its financial and commercial center, is located just an hour away from the ski resorts of the Andes Mountains and from the Pacific Ocean coast. Home to more than six million inhabitants, Santiago is distinctive not only because it has the Andean mountains as a backdrop, but because of its panoramic views and natural enclaves located around the city. Its modern architecture lies alongside buildings dating from the early 20th century and it has numerous parks and squares.

Santiago
The city offers variety to meet all tastes and requirements in terms of price, location, quality and service. With high quality convention facilities, a variety of restaurants, a range of good hotels (see page 19), and modern shopping malls, and the hospitality and professionalism of its people, Santiago is the perfect place to host this international conference.

Accomodation

Santiago boasts an impressive range of hotels, with most of the international hotel chains represented (Sheraton, Hyatt, Ritz-Carlton, Intercontinental, Crowne Plaza, Marriott, etc). There are numerous four and five star hotels, many of which have been built over the last ten years, and a total of 11,700 hotel rooms in the city. They are mostly located conveniently in the heart of the city or in areas within walking distance of the commercial districts. The great majority of hotels have internet connections.

LOC is currently selecting those hotels reasonably close to the conference venue and to the main transport system, with a variety of rates and reliable booking systems. Once this is done, a set of fine hotels, covering a range of room rates and services, will be recommended to ICC attendees through the web site, including contact and booking details.
