Submission Format
Papers (Refereed and No Refereed)
Page layout: standard A4 format (21 x 29.7 cm) with 4 cm
top and bottom margins and 3 cm side margins, or 8 x
11 inch paper with 1 inch top and bottom margins and
1 inch side margins.
Title: Centre the title in bold capital letters as the first
item (14 pt), followed by a vertical space and then the
name(s) of the author(s) (12 pt).
Affiliation: Type the affiliation postal address (typed as it
should appear on a mailing envelope) immediately below
each author's name, along with e-mail address (12 pt).
Abstract: After two line spaces the body of the abstract
should be typed with single spacing and no indentation
for paragraphs, in a text of between 500 and 1000 words
that includes, in this order: (1) Abstract heading Bold (2)
Introduction (3) Objectives (4) Methodology (5) Results,
and (6) Conclusions. This format is applicablke both when
submitting the abstract to LOC for the first time (before
Jan. 16th, 2009) and when it appears at the start of the full
paper. The conference web site has a full guide to drafting
abstracts, titled "Background Information for Abstracts".
Paper text: All text is to be in Times New Roman
characters, size 12 point. Total number of pages for
the whole paper must be tween 5 (minimum) and 10
(maximum). After two line spaces the body of the paper
should be typed with single spacing and no indentation
for paragraphs. The text is to be left and right justified.
The paper must include an introduction, body of paper,
conclusion and references. All headings Bold. A single
line space should appear between paragraphs.
Figures: All figures are to be labelled sequentially.
Figures are to be placed in the centre of the page, at
the top or bottom, whichever is closest to the text that
refers to the figure (trying to keep the figure near the text
and on the same page). Leave a one line space and then
add the figure title. Figure titles are to be placed at the
bottom of the figure, centered and labelled (e.g. Figure
1. Map of area of study). After the figure title leave a one
line space before continuing with the text for the next
paragraph.
Tables: All tables are to be labelled sequentially. Tables
are to be placed in the centre of the page, at the top or
bottom, whichever is closest to the text that refers to
the table (trying to keep the figure near the text and on
the same page). Leave a one line space and then add the
table title. Table titles are to be placed at the bottom of
the table, centered and labelled (e.g. Table 1. Preliminary
results of study). After the table title leave a one line space
before continuing with the text for the next paragraph.
Referencing: The Harvard referencing system is to be
used. Footnotes should not be used.
Poster
Abstract: The abstract fulfils the same function as the
paper abstracts, and the format rules are the same,
except that the text should be between 300 and 800
words. Once the abstract is approved, it is not necessary
to include it in the Poster itself.
Information to include: The poster should include in
some part of its content a box or block of text giving the
title of the work, the names of the authors, the names of
the institutions the authors work at or are associated with,
a contact address, and the code or ID number assigned
by the Scientific Sub-Commite. Optionally, some of the
same conventions indicated above for the texts, figures
and tables in the papers can be applied to the poster if
they are applicable and suitable for the content, design
and structure of the Poster.
Dimensions: On the exhibition panels, the dimensions
of the usable space on the surface of each panel is 90 cm
wide and 200 cm tall.
