Scientific Sub-committee
 The Local Scientific Sub-committee of the 24th International Cartographic Conference (ICC) of the International Cartographic Association (ICA), at the level of management and coordination, is responsible for organizing the work groups made up of the academics and researchers from various universities and other Chilean institutions helping to select the abstracts and to process the full papers. Moreover, it should edit and print the Conference Proceedings on CD and draft the program of the scientific sessions, for which it should interact with a group of professionals, suitable for the wide range of themes covered by this Conference, who will act in assessments and other assistance.
The Sub-committee meets regularly to plan and discuss the details of the responsibilities undertaken. It is led by its President, Mrs. Alejandra Coll E., member of the academic staff of the Cartography Department and also Director of the Tactile Cartography Centre, both of which are part of the Metropolitan Technological University (UTEM). The other committee members are:
- Marcela Sánchez M., Sub-director of the Geography Institute of the Catholic University of Chile (UC) and also Secretary of the Chilean Society for Geographic Sciences (Sochigeo).
- Cintia Andrade L., surveying engineer at the research & development section of the Military Geographic Institute (IGM).
- José Ramírez C., cartographer and coordinator of the Geographic Information Systems Unit of the Agricultural Studies and Policies Office (Odepa), also a member of the UTEM Cartography Department academic staff.
- Juan Carlos Espinoza R., member of the Geographic Engineering Department academic staff, also ex - Director of this Department, at the University of Santiago (Usach).
